Lolium multiflorum (common name Loiessa) is a very robust plant that can reach a height of 90-110 cm. Bushy species that prefers warm soils, but develops well on any type of soil. It has a very rapid and vigorous development, so as to ensure abundant production from the first cut.

Tetraploid varieties provide more watery and more palatable forage, while diploid varieties are easier to hay.
There are alternative varieties of the “westerwoldicum” type and non-alternative varieties. Westerwoldicum varieties generally have abundant production at the first mowing. Non-alternative varieties are longer-lived and can last 2 years in suitable environments.
