Paspalum Notatum
(Bahia gramignone grass)
MAIN FEATURES
It is a warm-season grass with an extensive root system, well suited for controlling soil erosion and exhibits drought tolerance. Bahia grass is moderately aggressive and forms an open, rustic carpet. It grows quickly and needs frequent shaving to remain attractive. For this reason it is sometimes considered a weed in fine-leaved carpets. Bahia grass has good shade tolerance, it gives the best result with abundant rain well distributed throughout the season. It requires fertilization (about 2.5 grams per square meter per month). Very suitable for poor soil, it should be cut between 5 and 8 cm. in height.
